RE3 RESCUES
Many times Re3 is contacted by local Rescue, Law Enforcement, or Animal Control Agencies to help assist them with horses in our immediate area that are in desperate need of our help. These are horses that either have been neglected or that have been surrendered for some reason. These are generally the horses that need your help the most. Part of what we do at Re3 is to educate owners new and old to the needs of younger off the track thoroughbreds who often have greater nutritional needs than some other breeds. This is often true of some aged and senior horses who can no longer chew regular grain rations or hay. The owners must be willing to take into consideration that these two classes of horses will tend to require more hands on care and maintenance than the average horse.

Meet Jager
Jager was purchased from a local stockyard sale outbidding a kill buyer headed to Mexico. Advertised as a 17yr old Percheron this gentle giant is believed to be in his mid to late 20's. He has very little teeth in which to chew so we currently soak all of his grain and give him finely chopped hay. Jager came to us with a body score of between 1 and 2.

Prince 15 year old PintoPrince stayed with us for a few months during the first part of 2015. His owner had made some bad life choices which ended her up incarcerated for several months. Local law enforcement contacted Re3 and asked if we would be willing to foster Prince since his owner would be unable to care for him for several months. Prince and his owner were reunited early summer of 2015.

DS- 15 year old Pinto Paso FinoDS came to us through a neighbor call to assist. DS had been abandoned at our neighbors house when DS's old owners moved away. Ruby - Thoroughbred MareSometimes even with the best intentions horses end up in bad situations. Ruby was one of these horses. Adopted off the track Ruby's owners were ill equipped to care for the needs of an Off the Track Thoroughbred. Often these are younger horses who are still growing require more calories, nutrition, and maintenance than their new owners are able to provide. This is what happened to Ruby. She came to us underweight and shaggy but bloomed into a wonderful trail and show mount. Ruby is well loved these days with her new family.
